Sturdy and Adjustable

by -

This assist rail works as advertised. Assembly is easy, just 6 pins to make all the adjustments and connect the parts. Four of those are captive, spring-loaded pins that you push in to move to the next hole. The two that adjust the handle height are removable and extend to both sides of the tubing. Once assembled, it's sturdy and stays put (with our heavy mattress, anyway). The reach under the mattress is adjustable from about 33-44" (in one-inch increments) to accommodate different mattress widths. I use the third largest (42") to go just over half way under our king mattress. With a single bed (29" wide), it might stick out the other side a bit, unless you keep the handle a few inches from the bed. Twin (39") and up, it'll be completely under the mattress. The legs are adjustable for foundation height (surface under mattress, whether box spring, slat bed, or whatever) of 16-20" (in one-inch increments). The padded handle is comfortable to grip, can hold significant weight (for lifting out of bed), and is adjustable for height. The height is adjusted by removable pins over a range of about 14-18" from top of foundation to top of handle. You could also set it at 19.5" if you skip the holes and put the pins under the handle's tube, but then there's nothing holding it down. Height above the mattress depends upon the thickness of the mattress.I use it to keep my side pillow from falling off the bed, for pulling myself toward the edge of the bed, and to assist in getting out of bed. Height adjustment as a pillow holder is tricky (don't want the pillow to slip under the handle or slide over the top). As a grab handle, the height is not as critical.Highly recommended.Review of:

Peace of mind

This is an extremely useful item to have. Since my husband had a stroke, we have had a rail on his bed because he does fall out sometimes without a rail. It is kind of hard to get him back up. I have put this one on the guest bed because he has fallen asleep there watching football. I keep telling him football ~is~ that boring but... It is nice not to hear a crash. It is nice not to have to worry.

good quality and not too big

I am fairly young and fell out of bed. This is sturdy and not too bulky. Perfect to grab on since we have adjustable bed.I had fallen in floor at 5am. Miracle I didn't break an arm. This will help after surgeries or if your bed is very high like ours.
