I have never written a product review, but am compelled to do so now. This ortho bed wedge was delivered about 3 hours ago, and it has given me instant relief. I'm 9 days post total hip replacement, supposed to elevate my legs. I've been tossing and turning with scads of bed pillows, sheets, and throw pillows. So uncomfortable. This bed wedge was reasonable, and provides firm yet gentle support. I am so happy with it - only wish I'd had it a week ago.

Wedge leg pillow review

I bought this wedge pillow because I had used one just like it at physical therapy when I was injured. The pillow provides a good amount of support and takes the pressure off of your lower back. It is fairly hard and not really comfortable for long periods and is best suited for 30 minute to 1 hour uses. The price was reasonable and the pillow appears to be well made. There was no odor to the pillow and it comes with a blue zippered cover. If you were looking at using this pillow for sleeping I would look at something a little lower and softer. The 8 inch height is a bit much and its a little to firm for my preference for sleeping. I would recommend this pillow for short usage to relieve lower back pressure.

I admit I’ve used this product for less than 5 minutes at this moment, and I don’t always review things as often as I should. I’m writing this review because I just fought to take this seemingly massive thing out of the box and dubiously shoved it under the covers to test it out.I didn’t think it would actually accomplish much. I figured I wouldn’t get steady elevation to heart level—let alone above—because I assumed it would be too “short” and/or would compress under my weight like pillows do. People also suggest using phone books. I don’t remember the last time I saw one, and the odds of any non-hoarder having enough phone books to elevate even one leg above heart level are crazy low—forget elevating both legs! I’ve never managed to follow this advice, though I’ve come close with all the pillows combined. So, imagine my pleasant sense of shock to find both legs quite firmly where they’re “supposed” to be for help with edema (swelling) and/or circulation issues. While writing, I’ve had more time to assess. To be honest, I’ve never accomplished proper elevation until now, so it feels weird. Not great to be honest, but I think that this is probably a good kind of discomfort. I’m used to bad. Example : We all know good posture is important even if we don’t grow up knowing why it is exactly. Fixing that is uncomfortable, but good. I have to wear knee and ankle braces often, and those aren’t cozy really either; they’re snug, but not comfortable. These things work toward a larger purpose. I won’t be shocked to find my swelling finally diminishing or going away. If it doesn’t, it won’t be the fault of this invention.I don’t have a basis for comparison with similar products, so I can’t help there. What I CAN tell you is that this is not a pillow despite the appearance. It’s a tad hard under my knee, but not at all unbearable—just showing it’s not a cushion. If I try to push down on it, it has a cushiony response, but only if I try pretty hard. Otherwise, it’s very furniture-like, which is an overall good thing because it allows any weight to elevate properly. I say that because I’m not petite. I’m not obese either, but I’m far enough from slender to vouch for the sturdiness of this item.I bought the 8-inch version because the others were priced so highly in opposition. Having this now, I think 10 inches would have been a waste. Unless you are suffering from obesity or something that’s causing both legs to swell to the point that your clothes don’t work unless specially made, my guess is that this will work for most anyone else in terms of fitting BOTH legs. I have extra room to move both of my overweight, swollen legs around at the moment. I hate painting this unattractive picture, but I want to help, so I feel I should.Given the extra room I have with the 8-inch, I imagine even the 6-inch would be too large to easily accommodate just one leg. It creates an uncomfortable imbalance for me to take one leg down, but I’m not the most flexible chick ever born either. If you want to use this for one leg, I suggest that you look in the Q & A to see if the 6-inch version is viable for that purpose.Lastly, as I’m finishing this review, I’m noticing no more minimal discomfort from the sturdiness under my knees, and my legs feel a bit better. I can’t expect it to cure me in 15 minutes, but it isn’t harming me, it’s doing its job, and I’m anxious to see how using it will affect my lower half over time.Happy shopping!P.S.Current Pricing (for Reference):6 Inch$34.718 Inch$17.9910 Inch$53.75
