Good chair but seat opening is a problem.

by -

I purchased this product to use primarily as a shower seat. I am a T-12 para. The arm rests wiggle a bit side to side but seem sturdy enough to use for positioning. The back part is a bit loose and wiggles some, but that is because it is designed to be taken on and off as needed. The back is still strong enough for me to feel comfortable resting against it.My two complaints about this product are with the grips/pads on the armrests and the size of the opening in the seat. The grips are just a thin pad around the tubing, and don't give much in the way of padding or grip if you use them to shift weight like I need to. The opening in the seat is the biggest problem. I am a larger gentleman and the hole is simply not large enough to use comfortably. Luckily I am not using this seat as a commode as it would be unusable for me in that capacity. As a shower seat it works, but not as comfortably as it could with a larger front to back opening in the seat.

A bargain for a large and sturdy commode!

This is an extremely durable, super strong, well designed and well built item. I am very pleased with my purchase, and I recommend this commode to anyone.I am recovering from extensive foot surgery, and cannot put any weight on my left foot for at least two and a half months. I placed this commode right beside my bed, where I can transfer myself at any time, do the deed, and slip back into bed without troubling anyone else. The one flaw is the lid for the pail. Where do you put it? It does not have any storage options in place, and therefore you must find a place and make a way for it in advance. This is important when you use the toilet, and have no immediate help. It is not a problem for me, as I am strong enough to take care of it by myself. If you have a true invalid person, who doesn't have the strength to take care of the lid, and has no immediate help, it could get quite smelly in the house in the time required to have the pail removed.I took care of this problem by putting Velcro placed on the center of the lid, and a matching spot placed on the bottom of the pail. Now the lid is stored with the pail, and anyone that has the strength to peel off a Velcro strap on a diabetic shoe can take care of the smell in no time.I still gave the unit a five star rating, as the lid issue is minor in that it is easy to remedy. I also got the unit for a song, $74.41 from Amazon, with no shipping costs for me. The price has now bounced up to $107, so your mileage may very quite a bit. The unit is so well built that I would still purchase it for $107, knowing what I now know.I highly recommend it, and I am sure you will appreciate the overall quality and build strength as much as we do.Best regards,John Price

Worth the money, Works well, Save your knees and Hips

This is very sturdy. We were going to replace our toilet since it was too low and also getting shaky, but the added height of this commode chair enabled us to put off getting a new toilet. My wife is getting her second hip replacement surgery and I have arthritis in both knees, so we both needed a toilet seat that was higher so we did not have to bend our knees past 90 degrees. I weigh over 300 lbs and this chair holds me with no problem. Also I am 6'6" so I have long legs and needed a higher seat for that reason. My only complaint for this chair is that we did not receive a splash guard, but we took the splash guard from the smaller and cheaper commode chair that our health insurance provided, and that splash guard worked fine.
